“Language School” has existed since 2005 and is one of the best-known learning centers for foreigners who need to learn the Georgian Language. Besides Georgian, the school teaches students the Russian language – knowledge of which is also very important for foreigners employed in post-soviet countries.
Students of the “Language School” are mostly diplomats accredited in Georgia and representatives of different international organizations. Staff members of the US Embassy, USAID, OSCE, EU, Peace Corps and almost every embassy in Georgia are actively involved in the school learning Georgian and Russian.
The “Language School” is led by Nana Shavtvaladze, professor of the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. She is the author of the unique textbook “Path – Georgian Language for English-Speakers” published in 2016 with the help of the US Embassy. The 360-page book consists of 24 topics, lexical-grammatical exercises and 6 tests. Enclosed with the book is the CD with dialogues recorded by professional actors and actresses. With the help of this textbook foreign language speakers start learning the Georgian language with modern methods from the very beginning.
Besides, this is the only book in Georgia having enclosed CD with dialogues recorded by professional actors/actresses. The book is on sale in hotels and shops, such as Courtyard Marriott Hotel, Sheraton Metechi Palace, Book house and Parnasus.
Nana Shavtvaladze is continuing her work on making textbooks for foreigners. Publishing second, third, fourth and fifth parts of the “Path” are planned for the future. This will ensure teaching the Georgian language on five different levels with modern methods and audio-visual aids.
